NORTH BERGEN – A few of the members of a group called North Bergen Concerned Citizens (NBCCG), along with a former township employee who has sued Mayor Nicholas Sacco, filed around 380 signatures yesterday to run against the incumbents for the May 10 Township Commission election.
The group is running under “Citizens for Change.”
April L. Tricoli-Busset, 44, is a former clerk and typist who sued the municipality for emotional distress after she claimed officials addressed her crudely. The lawsuit was thrown out last year, but the insurance company decided to settle with Tricoli-Busset for $90,000 because the judge decided stress was created when she was moved from one office to another.
As a part of the suit, both parties are not allowed to speak on the settlement and Tricoli-Busset was not to seek re-employment by North Bergen.
Michael Kreutzer, 40, a manager in the financial industry, has become the leader of the NBCCG and is also heading “Citizens for Change.” The NBCCG is a group opposed to a development on Tonnelle Avenue. He is joined by Adiran Cepero, 29, a computer technology specialist; Maria Benitez-Mir, 48, a public school teacher; and Ravanesh Varma, 33, a local businessman.
Township Clerk Erin Barillas said that at this time their office was still counting signatures to make sure the group had the necessary amount.
