RACANIELLO, VINCENT A

A funeral mass was held March 5 at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, West End, Long Branch, for Vincent A. Racaniello. “Sonny,” 81, was born and raised in Jersey City and lived in Woodcliff Lake before retiring to Allenhurst. He passed away March 1. Vincent was a guidance counselor at Lincoln High School in Jersey City and retired in 1994. Prior to that he owned VAR Fuel Co. and worked as a consultant for Pennetta Fuel Co., both in Jersey City. He earned a bachelor’s degree from St. Peter’s College in Jersey City in 1960, a master’s degree from Jersey City State College and a graduate degree in Education from Fordham University. He was a member of the Italian American Association of the Township of Ocean, Knights of Columbus Council 335, Long Branch and the Catholic War Veterans, Asbury Park. He was also a member of the Allenhurst Beach Club for over 40 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956. He was predeceased by his daughter, Linda Sabat and his sister, Ann Racaniello. Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Geraldine; his children, Janice and her husband David Henderson of Rumson, Debra Reed of Atlantic Highlands, and Bernadette and her husband Wolfgang Chincarini of Sea Bright; brothers, Frank and his wife Ann Racaniello and Dr. Anthony and his wife Irma Racaniello; and sisters, Angie LoBue and Mary and her husband Leonard Savino; grandchildren, Nicole, Sarah, Andrew and David Henderson, Jr., Shelby and Zachary Sabat and Lily and Ava Chincarini. He was a good man who will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Services arranged by the Fiore Funeral Home, Ocean Township.
