Nine will vie for three spots on Hoboken school board

HOBOKEN – Hoboken Board of Education Secretary Robert Davis announced at the March 8 board meeting that nine residents have filed to run for school board office when three seats expire on April 27.
The school elections in Hoboken are often seen as a sign of how the council elections two months later will go — looking at who is backing which candidates, and who does the best.
The challenger candidates are Peter Biancamano, Steven Feinstein, Clifford Godfrey, John Madigan, Anthony Oland, and Patricia Waiters. The incumbents are Carmelo Garcia, Frances Rhodes Kearns, and Jean Marie Mitchell.
The drawing for the positioning on the ballot will be held on March 17, and elections are held on April 27 at regular polling places. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
