Mayor Zimmer responds to rape investigation; City reviewing Hoboken St. Patrick’s Day 2011

HOBOKEN – Mayor Dawn Zimmer released a statement on Monday afternoon in response to two reported rape allegations stemming from the weekend of March 5, the day of the Hoboken St. Patrick’s Day parade .
“These allegations are extremely serious,” Zimmer said in a statement. “My administration will fully review all of the activities that occurred on Hoboken’s St. Patrick’s Day so we can properly evaluate all of the facts and make fully informed decisions going forward.”
One rape allegation from Saturday is currently under investigation by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office, and in a second incident the victim reportedly did not wish to pursue charges.
“I want to assure the public that my administration is in the process of conducting a complete review of this year’s event and will be making recommendations to the City Council as to how to move forward next year,” Zimmer said.
