Dear Editor,
I just read yet another letter from Beth Mason asking that Hoboken’s surplus be returned to the taxpayers. I have been a Hoboken homeowner and taxpayer for over 23 years and I don’t want any money back.
Responsible businesses, individuals and municipalities should have a “savings account” to insure against the unexpected. I am happy that there is surplus in the budget and that the city will not have to bond for unexpected items. I disagree that we are being overtaxed by this administration.
Maybe she needs a tax refund for her personal political activities and contributions.
Ms. Mason, as a council member bears an amount of responsibility for the city’s “wasteful spending”, however it appears that her obvious hate for the city administration seems to be the reason for her demands – does she really worry about the residents?
Sincerely,
Alan H. Cohen
