SECAUCUS – Organizers of Secaucus’ annual fundraiser for the American Cancer Society will tonight host “Kiss Cancer Goodbye,” a kick-off party for this year’s Relay for Life walkathon.
Last year Relay raised more than $50,000 for cancer research from registered teams of walkers and other fund-raisers – bake sales, raffles, etc. – held in conjunction with the event. The event brought in about $30,000 in 2008 and 2009.
The Valentine’s Day-themed Kiss Cancer Goodbye kick-off party will take place this evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Clarendon Elementary School, located at 685 Fifth St. in Secaucus.
Relay organizers encourage interested residents to come out learn more about Relay for Life, sign up teams, and receive helpful resources and information they can use for fundraising. Organizers say this will be a great opportunity to find out what Relay is all about and to get involved. Refreshments will be served.
The 2011 Relay for Life – Secaucus, which takes place overnight, will be held from June 17 to 18. – E. Assata Wright
