A mass of Christian burial was celebrated Feb. 4 at Basilica Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, Newark, for Rev. Hector F. Galvis Rios, 34. He passed away Jan. 31. Rev. Galvis was born in Barbosa, Colombia, and immigrated to the U.S. in 2003. Rev. Galvis was a priest in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Newark and Parochial Vicar at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Jersey City since 2009. Rev. Galvis was a very dedicated priest and loved by all members of the parish. Rev. Galvis attended Holy Apostle and Immaculate Conception Seminary and was ordained in May 2009. Rev. Galvis was the son of Evelio de Jesus Glavis Marin and Maria Amparo Rios, and brother of Marta Cecilia, Mariluz, Rafael Alberto, Leidy Biviana, Diana Marcela, Edison Esteban and the late Claudia Elena Galvis.
