Funeral services have been held for Emma Vega, 86. She passed away Jan. 24. Born in Patillas, Puerto Rico, she moved to Brooklyn before becoming a resident of Jersey City. Emma worked with the visiting Homemaker Services of Jersey City for over 30 years. She was Lay Leader with the Lafayette Methodist Church and was an active leader in the Methodist Church Community. Emma loved gardening, shopping, sewing and spending time with her family. She is survived by her children, Bethsaida Wishner, Ruth Smith, Samuel Vega, Mary Rodriguez, Frances Bobadilla, Nelson Vega and Nancy Vega. She was the mother-in-law of Michael Wishner, Victor Rodriguez, Nilson Bobadilla, Suki Vega and the late Gerald Smith; grandmother of Natasha Cruz, Asia Smith, Gerald Smith and companion Christina Ramos, Vincent Vega; great grandmother of Sarieah Smith; and sister of Juanita Portugues. Services arranged by the McLaughlin Funeral Home, Jersey City.
