NORTH BERGEN – Last Friday Justin Italo, the former chief security guard at the North Bergen Housing Authority, was officially terminated.
Italo, 23, of North Bergen, was suspended without pay on Jan. 10 after images on his Myspace.com account sparked controversy. In one he was allegedly holding what appeared to be a handgun, along with other questionable images.
Italo was hired in April 2008 as a security officer and was promoted to the $30,000 salary of the chief security guard post.
He had been given until Jan. 28 to file a grievance hearing, or he would be fired. When he did not, he was officially terminated that afternoon, a town spokesperson said. – Tricia Tirella
