Hoboken population tops 50,000, mayor saysExpanded by more than 30 percent since 2000

HOBOKEN – The Hoboken population has grown to 50,005 in the 2010 census, according to Mayor Dawn Zimmer, who posted the announcement on her Twitter page at approximately 3:30 p.m.
“Hob expands 30% since 2000 to 50,005! Tks everyone for being counted!!” Zimmer wrote on her Twitter page.
Similar information was posted on NJ.com, citing U.S. Census data.
The 2000 population of Hoboken was 38,577.
In the last 10 years, the mile-square city has seen several new condo and apartment complexes, both on the waterfront and back on the west side of town. — Ray Smith
