HOBOKEN AND BEYOND – In addition to the regular scenes of Hoboken, Hudson County viewers of TLC’s reality show “Next Great Baker,” a spinoff of the Hoboken-based show “Cake Boss,” will see one more familiar sight on the show tonight (Monday, Jan. 24).
Mayor Dawn Zimmer will appear as a guest judge on the show, as confirmed by city spokesperson Juan Melli.
“I wanted to promote Hoboken,” Zimmer said in December when asked about the appearance. “I interviewed finalists who had to design a Hoboken-themed cake for myself.”

One of the cakes features Zimmer on a bicycle, and another features her on top of a cake. She said in December she picked the one on the bicycle.
“I’m not comfortable being on top of a cake,” Zimmer said. “But I am comfortable riding my bicycle.”
Next Great Baker is a spin-off of the famed Cake Boss show, filmed at Carlo’s Bakery on Washington Street. Contestants vie for a job at Carlo’s Bakery and $50,000. A winner will be announced tonight.
