To the Editor:
We have all heard the proverbial, “There’s no ‘I’ in team,” and though I appreciate the personal accolades, without the assistance of a great team of volunteers, the second annual Miracle on 34th Street Food and Toy Drive could not have been the success it was and have the ability to reach so many families.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every person in this great town that supported our drive. I would also like to personally thank Mayor Mark Smith, as well as all the members of the Bayonne City Council that participated in our Photo with Santa Day (3rd Ward Councilman Ray Greaves and I have already discussed ideas for next year’s event). In addition, I would also like to thank Matt Dorans, president of the Bayonne Chamber of Commerce; Raenne Hempel, representative of Soldiers Angels, a national volunteer group; Santa Claus; and, most importantly, the number of Bayonne residents who stopped by our office to drop off food and toy items during the holiday season.
My belief has always been that it just takes a small effort from each of us to provide a huge result, and this past drive is living proof of that.
Once again, I want to thank this great community we live in for all their support in making this past holiday season brighter for a lot of needy families.
