A funeral mass took place Jan. 13 at Our Lady of Grace, Fairview, for Catherine Frances Malavasi, 83, formerly of West New York. She passed away Jan. 9. Catherine and her husband Mario Peter lived at 6601 Palisade Avenue, West New York, and were the owners of Kay’s Corner Luncheonette (Mario’s). She was the wife of Mario Peter; mother of Maria Malavasi Quartello, Kathleen Malavasi, Peter Malavasi, Patricia Malavasi Smith and the late Mario Malavasi Jr.; sister of Eleanor Krone, Frances Houston, and the late Pasquale and Daniel Sperduto; mother-in-law of Patricia Drennan Malavasi; grandmother of Chad Zanardelli, Melinda Malavasi, Stacy Ann Smith, Brad Zanardelli, Laurel Malavasi, Tara Marie Smith, Daniel J. Smith, and Tami Prieto; great-grandmother of Matthew Smith; and extended great-grandmother of Julian Wei, Caden Allen, Andre and Reese Prieto.
