British indie pop duo has regular gig at O’Neal’s in Hoboken

Monroe is an indie pop band that recently made the move from London in the UK to New Jersey. They spent the last three years playing some of Britain’s most prestigious venues, supporting artists such as The Gossip, Scouting For Girls, and The Ting Tings.
They have also been played on BBC Radio and performed on Channel 4 in a national battle of the bands competition, where they got down to the last 25 out of 6,000 bands that entered. On top of this, they have also had two songs used in films shown at the Cannes and Sundance film festivals, one due for release in 2011.
Looking for bigger and better things, they headed to New York, and have already played most of the city’s well-know venues, performed on several radio shows, and toured a circuit on the East Coast stretching from Washington D.C. up to Rochester, N.Y.
Monroe now has a weekly residency at O’Neal’s in Hoboken, 343 Park Ave. at 4th St., where they perform stripped-down acoustic versions of their songs.
