SOLAZZO, FRANCES

Funeral mass was conducted Jan. 4 at Our Lady of Fatima Church for Frances Solazzo. She passed away Dec. 31 at the Harborage Nursing Home. Born in New York City, Frances was raised in Italy and returned to the United States with her husband, Dominick after World War II. Frances lived the majority of her life in North Bergen and was a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima. She worked as a seamstress in New York City until her retirement at age sixty-five. Frances was a talented dressmaker. She made many beautiful wedding gowns, bridal veils, communion dresses, and other party dresses for her family – many times without a pattern. She enjoyed having fun, whether it was cooking for her family or friends, tending to her flourishing garden, knitting, crocheting, traveling, or visiting friends. She leaves many family and friends who loved her very much and who will miss her cooking, which was always an extension of her love. She is survived by her children, Bart and Linda Solazzo and Isabella and Dennis Spiegel; granddaughter Christina Solazzo and her grandson-in-law Jonathan Chin; grandchildren, Lisa and Dominic Solazzo; her brother Filippo Mitrano; sister Elisa Manolfi, in Italy, and many nieces and nephews. Frances was predeceased by her brother Joseph Mitrano. Services arranged by the Vainieri Funeral Home, North Bergen.
