Hoboken Hospital Authority to vote Tuesday on hospital bidder

HOBOKEN – After a community advisory committee reviewed bids for the sale of Hoboken University Medical Center, the Hoboken Municipal Hospital Authority will vote on Tuesday, Jan. 4 on whether the board should enter negotiations with a final bidder. The name of the bidder has not yet been released, and will be revealed at the Jan. 4 meeting.
The meeting was originally scheduled for Dec. 30, but a public notification problem moved the meeting to Jan. 4 at 6 p.m. at Hoboken University Medical Center.
The city, which saved the hospital from potential closure in 2008 by guaranteeing a $52 million bond, is searching for a private buyer to relieve Hoboken of the bond guarantee. Mayor Dawn Zimmer has said she wants the facility kept as a hospital.
