Hoboken/JC hosting plethora of parties

As millions prepare to party across the Hudson River in Manhattan on New Year’s Eve, it turns out Hudson County won’t be missing out on any of the partying either.
The practice of attending special events at nightclubs, bars, and restaurants has gained steam over the past few years, and it’s not stopping as 2010 winds down. Here are some of the local parties.

Parties in Hoboken and Jersey City

One party will take place at the Brass Rail in Hoboken, located at 135 Washington St. in Hoboken. A three course New Year’s Eve dinner will cost $70, and open bar will be an additional $40. The newly opened Wicked Wolf in Hoboken will also host a New Year’s Eve party from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. The first 50 tickets sold cost $125 and then rise to $150. Gaslight Restaurant, 400 Adams St. in Hoboken, will also host a New Year’s Eve party, which includes a $55 open bar option from 9 p.m. to close. The event will also include a live DJ. At the brand new Village Pourhouse, located at 205 First St. in Hoboken, tickets are available from $100 to $150. The options include open bar with table seating for you and five friends, or seating in a comfortable skybox to celebrate the end of 2010. From 9 p.m. to 2 a.m., 3A’s, located at 500 Grand St., will host a New Year’s Eve party for $80 per ticket. The party includes an open bar, family style dinner, champagne toast at midnight, and a DJ. For tickets, call (201) 217-1650.
In a “dress to impress” setting, the W Hoboken Hotel will host an 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. party for $175 per person. The event includes a premium open bar, an ‘80s band, DJ, and dancing. The W Hoboken Hotel is located at 225 River St., and tickets can be purchased by calling (201) 253-2510.
At Lana Lounge, 92.3 NOW FM will be broadcasting live on New Year’s Eve. An open bar package from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. includes a seven-course buffet meal, a champagne toast at midnight, three DJ’s, and three floors, and costs $99. On a boat and other ideas

For those seeking a classy waterfront experience, the Spirit of New Jersey will host a New Year’s Eve party on their cruise liner. The full dinner and party will cost $285, and will satisfy those who are unsure if they should party in New York City or New Jersey. Go right in the middle of the two!

NJ Transit adds trains

After the midnight party is over and you want to send your friends packing (or if you’re going somewhere yourself), New Jersey Transit will operate special late-night trains on most rail lines during the wee hours of Jan. 1, 2011.
