Report: State says Hoboken can’t hire its choice of superintendent of schools…for now

HOBOKEN — The state of New Jersey has told the city of Hoboken that it can’t hire its new choice for superintendent of schools, Dr. Mark Toback, because they need to comply with Gov. Christopher Christie’s spending cap on superintendent contracts, which goes into effect this coming February — according to a report on a local news website. The rule on superintendents would cap his contract at approximately $155,000 per year.
