Hoboken: Due to snow, discounted rates in garage through 8 a.m. Monday

HOBOKEN – As the cleanup continues in Hoboken, the city is encouraging residents to park off the street and in garages, and is offering an incentive to do so.
Residents with a valid residential parking permit may park in Garage B (28 2nd St.) and Garage D (215 Hudson St.) for the discounted daily rate of $5 through 8 a.m. on Monday morning.
In her first public statement since the blizzard hit Hoboken over the weekend, Mayor Dawn Zimmer thanked city employees for their hard work, and announced that crews will continue to work overnight “to clear snow from the sides of the street for parking.”
Zimmer had been out of town in New Hampshire, and returned to Hoboken yesterday, according to city spokesperson Juan Melli. Business Administrator Arch Liston was in charge while the mayor was away. Melli said Zimmer was in contact through phone and e-mail with Liston and the rest of the staff at City Hall, which had a delayed opening on Monday morning.
“Crews will be cleaning up areas throughout the City where there are empty spaces in order to provide more parking spaces,” Zimmer said in a release. “And residents can help this process by parking off the street in garages or private lots if possible.”
Zimmer ended her statement by asking residents to contact her at dzimmer@hobokennj.org if they had “information that may help us as we evaluate the response to the blizzard.”
