SECAUCUS — We can safely assume that the patrons and owners of the Garden Health Spa are not regular readers of the Reporter. Just two weeks after we reported that two women were arrested on alleged prostitution charges at the massage business on Paterson Plank Road, two new arrests have been made at the same establishment, according to Det. Sgt. John Buckley of the Secaucus Police Department.
On Mon., Dec. 21 at around noon, a Secaucus Police officer entered Garden Health Spa, located at 1317 Paterson Plank Road, Buckley said.
Local police have kept their eye on the business since the beginning of the month and Buckley said the officer involved entered the spa as a part of this ongoing monitoring. While on the premises, Buckley stated, Hae Pierce, 49, allegedly “attempted to engage him in sexual activity in exchange for something of economic value, specifically money.”
Pierce, who lives in Parlin, N.J., was arrested for “engaging in prostitution,” Buckley said.
A second woman, Yang Kim, 60, of Palisades Park, N.J. was also arrested and charged with promoting prostitution.
The arrests are the latest in a string of prostitution busts that have been made in Secaucus recently.
On Dec. 2, two women, Piao Yihua, 27, and Li Meishan, 37, were arrested by Secaucus Police at the Garden Health Spa in an undercover sting operation, according to the police. Meishan, of Flushing, New York, was charged with promoting prostitution, while Yihua, also of Flushing, was charged with engaging in prostitution.
And just last month, Secaucus Police, working in conjunction with two other law enforcement agencies, arrested five women and a man at a different business for crimes ranging from prostitution to promoting prostitution and hindering arrest. Police have declined to give more details on that particular bust, stating that releasing more information could hinder an ongoing investigation. – E. Assata Wright
