A shattered relationship
Police were called to a downtown Garden Street residence around 3:30 a.m. on Dec. 14 after a report of a female repeatedly ringing a doorbell. While on their way to the scene, police received a report that the female allegedly threw a brick through the apartment window and was now running away from the scene, being chased by the man who lives at the residence.
Police located a suspect, later identified as Dayane Andrade, 21, of Miami, Fla. She and the homeowner apparently used to be in a dating relationship, according to police, and Andrade said she was going to the apartment because the victim is the father of her 2-year-old son.
Police said that Andrade was allegedly in violation of a final restraining order on file by the victim. Andrade was issued a warrant for Domestic Violence Criminal Mischief and a warrant for the Contempt of Court.
Probably just forgot their PIN
On the morning of Dec. 13, an ATM machine located along the 500 block of Willow Avenue was reported damaged with a pick axe.
The prying tool was left on the floor next to the ATM by the apparent perpetrator(s), according to a police report. The owner of the store that held the ATM said the perpetrator(s) were unable to pry open the door.
Police were attempting to lift fingerprints off the prying tool and the ATM machine.
Saturday street fights!
A 26-year-old North Bergen man was charged with disorderly conduct after an alleged street fight on Washington Street at 1:50 a.m. on Dec. 11.
Michael Acosta was allegedly in a physical altercation with a 26-year-old Hoboken man. Acosta allegedly struck the Hoboken man in the face with a closed fist in the middle of the street near Second and Washington streets, according to police report. In the process of “securing” Acosta, police say the suspect allegedly broke off a driver’s side mirror on a Hoboken Yellow Cab which was stopped in traffic. Acosta refused medical attention and had no signs of injury. Acosta was processed, charged with disorderly conduct, and released. The other man was not arrested.
Car not safe, even in garage
Almost $1,500 worth of items were stolen from a 2008 Infinity G35 in an uptown Willow Avenue private garage, according to a police report. On the morning of Sunday, Dec. 12, police were alerted to a break-in of a vehicle, after the victim parked overnight in a garage near his multi-family apartment complex.
The following items were reported stolen: $400 Garmin GPS, a $400 Apple 32G I-Touch, and a $600 Callaway Golf Bag with clubs.
Hide your GPS
Police say a $150 Garmin global positioning system (GPS) was stolen from a car parked on the 900 block of Madison Street at approximately 9:30 p.m. A 2007 Hyundai Accent was found with its driver side window shattered and a Garmin GPS missing, according to a report. The victim stated that the GPS was in a bracket on the lower windshield. The bracket and charging cord were also taken, according to police.
The area is equipped with surveillance cameras and police say footage of the incident should be able to be provided.
