4th Ward outcome was a referendum on Mayor Zimmer

Dear Editor:
I had a different take from your recent letter writer on the recent 4th Ward election. The election was driven by two factors (1) Referendum on the Mayor’s (former) control of the City Council and (2) Response to the Administration’s “my way or the highway” attitude and their insular, non-transparent manner of doing business. I heard these things constantly leading up to the election. (Please note that these remarks do NOT include Transportation Director Ian Sacs and Zoning Officer Ann Holtzman who are both highly skilled and responsive professionals that have “raised the bar” considerably in City Hall.)
Maybe they are simply trying to prioritize, maybe they have too many balls in the air or maybe they simply have thin skin, but not knowing how to be responsive to their constituency certainly played a role in the recent election. Hopefully this administration will sort this out, they have important work to do, they will need everyone’s help, and now they will need to learn how to build a consensus.
