A funeral mass was held Nov. 30 at Sacred Heart R.C. Church for Anna V. Caravello, 96. She died Nov. 22 at the Frisbie Memorial Hospital in Rochester, N.H. after a period of declining health. She was born in Jersey City, daughter of the late Giovanni and Vincenza Tantillo. Anna grew up in Jersey City, in the shadow of the New York City skyline and view of the Statue of Liberty. She resided in Jersey City for 82 years and worked as a seamstress and sample hand dressmaker at Sipkin Corporation. Mrs. Caravello was a active member of St. Peter’s Church in Jersey City and a member of the St. Peter’s Preparatory School PTA. She used her creative skills to do custom embroidery work for the altar clothes at St. Peter’s. Anna married Santo Caravello in 1940 and was predeceased by him in 1993. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Frances and Robert DiTursi of Barrington, N.H.; her son and daughter-in-law, John and Lynn Caravello of Aiken, S.C.; her granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Julie DiTursi McPhee and Cory McPhee of Epping, N.H.; her grandson and granddaughter-in-law Robert and Ana DiTursi Chittenden, Vt.; two great-grandsons, Luca and Nico DiTursi of Chittenden, Vt.; and one greatgranddaughter, Nola McPhee of Epping, N.H..
