A mass of Christian burial was celebrated Dec. 1 at St. Aedan’s Church for John C. “Jack” Beirne, 64. He passed away at the Atrium at Hamilton Park in Jersey City on Nov. 23. Jack was a lifelong resident of Jersey City. He was a longtime communicant of St. Aedan’s parish as well as a graduate of St. Peter’s Prep and St. Peter’s College. He was retired from the City of Jersey City as Director of Economic Development and Commerce, Department of Housing. Jack was a Vietnam War veteran and retired U.S. Army Captain. He was recipient of numerous service medals including the Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Air Medal and Bronze Star. Jack is survived by his son John C. Beirne, Jr. and his wife Ban and grandchildren, Georgina and Vivienne, and was the brother of Kenneth B., James M., and Robert V. Beirne. He was the uncle of Brian, Caitlin, Elizabeth and Cristyn. Jack was predeceased by his parents, Marie and John J. Beirne. Services arranged by the McLaughlin Funeral Home, Jersey City.
