UPDATE: Early morning water main break on Meadowlands Parkway

SECAUCUS – Water has been restored to most buildings along Meadowlands Parkway that were affected by an early morning water break that occurred around 4:30 a.m. Friday morning.
A handful of addresses along Whimbrel Lane remain without water, according to Mayor Michael Gonnelli, who added the town’s Office of Emergency Management has gone door-to-door handing out bottled water and assisting residents with special needs.
Earlier, about 35 buildings were affected by the break and were without water. Residents in the buildings where water has been restored are being advised to boil it first, Gonnelli said.
No residents lost electricity.
Although southbound lanes on Meadowlands Parkway remain closed, traffic on northbound lanes has been restored.
Meadowlands Parkway between American Way and Harmon Cove was covered under a foot of mud following the break in an eight-inch pipe.
Crews from United Water are expected to be working in the area until midnight. – E. Assata Wright
