SECAUCUS — Meadowlands Parkway between American Way and Harmon Cove in Secaucus was covered under a foot of mud after a water main break at around 4:30 a.m. Friday morning.
Forty fire alarms alerted the town of the problem, which occurred on the west side of the street, according to Fire Chief Michael Gonnelli, who is also the mayor.
Several people were still without water at 10 a.m. and the chief said he did not know when water would be restored.
“It’s fortunate a lot of people are off from work today, or else the problem would have been a lot worse,” Gonnelli said. – E. Assata Wright
