O’Donnell pledges to serve

To the Editor:
I would like to thank all of the people who participated in the Nov. 3 General Election. I am humbled and honored by the results and I look forward to continuing to serve as your assemblyman. To those who voted for me, I say thank you for your trust; to those who voted for someone else, I say give me a chance, and I will win you over.
It’s no secret that these are difficult times in New Jersey and throughout the country. People are afraid of what the next news headline will bring and frustrated because no one seems to be able to help them. Right now, more than anything else, our people need jobs. We need to jump-start our economy by providing incentives to buy homes like home buyer tax credits so the builders start building again. We need to fund sorely needed public works projects to repair our infrastructure, our roads and bridges, our water and sewer systems, and our parks and public buildings.
An investment in new energy technologies for municipalities can create jobs while saving our communities’ money through reduced operational costs. We need to invest in research and development at our colleges and universities so we can be positioned to grow and expand high-tech job opportunities in New Jersey. We need to invest in our technical schools so we can train students to work with emerging technologies and win good careers in the economy of the future.
We can do all of these things and more by coming together and working together through these difficult times. Right now, the best way to emerge stronger from the current economic crisis is to work on job creation.
Please join me as we work together with our entire legislative delegation to tackle our toughest problems during these trying economic times. My legislative office is open at 447 Broadway in Bayonne. I can be reached at (201) 436-0961. I look forward to hearing from you.
