Car burglaries reported along waterfront

On Nov. 7 at approximately 7 p.m., it was reported that the rear window of a vehicle parked on Harbor Boulevard had been smashed and GPS (valued at $150) and radar (valued at $4700) units had been stolen from the vehicle sometime between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. while it was parked in a lot.
On Nov. 8, the passenger side window of a vehicle parked in a lot on Port Imperial Boulevard was smashed sometime between 8:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. and a crystal necklace was taken. On the other side of the same parking lot, also on Nov. 8, another car theft was reported of a 2005 Jeep from which several items were taken.
Police said that the suspects in this ongoing investigation have been apprehended and are in custody.

Two arrested “bluntly” on drug charges

On Oct. 31 at approximately 7:30 p.m., Dairoby Adana of Union City was arrested for possession of a controlled dangerous substance after officers on patrol observed him allegedly smoking a “blunt.”
According to police, Adana was allegedly seen with a cigarette rolled with a green, leafy substance believed to be marijuana as he exited a vehicle on Hamilton Avenue.
On Nov. 2, another man was arrested for possession of a controlled dangerous substance underneath the Willow Street bridge, near the border of Hoboken.
According to police, at approximately 11:30 p.m., Mario Ramirez of Orange was clearly observed allegedly smoking a “blunt” through his car window.
Police conducted a routine motor vehicle stop at which point they saw the cigarette Ramirez was smoking was filled with a green, leafy substance believed to be marijuana.

Alleged shoplifters arrested

At approximately 8 p.m. on Nov. 8, two individuals from West New York were arrested on shoplifting charges at Pathmark on Park Avenue.
According to police, security personnel at the store observed Marco Navarro, 20, allegedly placing items in the purse of Mariah Navarro, 19, as they walked through the aisles.
The two then paid for two quarts of milk and allegedly attempted to leave the store with the approximately $104 of merchandise in the purse.
They were stopped by security and police were called to the scene to make the arrests.

Two juveniles arrested after allegedly knocking woman down, stealing purse

According to a Nov. 9 police report, two juveniles allegedly knocked a woman to the ground in a parking lot on Port Imperial Boulevard and took her purse. Police were called to the scene and the woman was able to give a description of the alleged perpetrators.
Shortly thereafter, police on patrol on Pershing Road saw two individuals matching the description and also found the purse and robbery tools in their possession.
The juveniles were arrested and charged with robbery, receiving stolen property, and possession of burglary tools.

Allegedly paid with fake bill, returned real change, then fled

On Nov. 9, an employee at a store on Harbor Boulevard reported that a customer allegedly paid for merchandise with a counterfeit $100 bill around 8:15 a.m. When the employee realized the bill was a fake, he attempted to confront the suspect.
The suspect turned over the change he had received from the transaction, but when the employee told the man he would have to call the police, the man allegedly fled the scene before police arrived.

EYO?

On Oct. 31, an incident of criminal mischief was reported at 11:25 a.m. According to the victim, the initials “EYO” had been spray painted on the side of a private property.
Police said they do not know what the initials might mean.

Allegedly threatened to kill

On Oct. 31 at 12:30 p.m., Manuel Del Valle of Union City was arrested on charges of making terroristic threats after he allegedly threatened to kill another man with a crowbar.
According to a police report, the suspect and the victim have had issues with each other for several months.

Unknown suspects tampered with monitoring boxes

According to police, on Nov. 6, a resident reported that three monitoring boxes had been tampered with, located on Sterling Avenue, Hackensack Plank Road, and Park Avenue. Police said that the boxes are used to monitor noise levels from nearby construction being conducted by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
The estimated damages were totaled at $4,800.

Cable guy blamed for iPhone theft

On Nov. 7, a resident on Port Imperial Boulevard reported that his iPhone had been stolen and alleged that it was stolen by the cable repair man.
According to police, the incident allegedly occurred between 8:45 a.m. and 9 a.m. on Oct. 30, but was not reported until a week later.
Police said that the cable company had been called but the phone has not yet been recovered.

Car keying allegedly caught on tape

On Nov. 9, a resident on Willow Avenue reported that his upstairs neighbor had allegedly keyed his 2008 Ford.
According to police, the resident reported that the two neighbors have had an ongoing problem with each other.
The resident also recorded the alleged incident on a video surveillance system. The matter is still under investigation.

Witnesses see suspects flee from scene of car burglary

According to police, on Oct. 29, unknown perpetrators gained entry into a car on Cooper Place and removed a pair of keys. Witnesses on the scene reported seeing two Hispanic males fleeing the area. The incident is still under investigation.

Danger at Donuts

On Oct. 31 at approximately 10:40 a.m., a Union City man and his passenger were allegedly assaulted in the parking lot of Dunkin’ Donuts on Palisade Avenue. Police said that the matter was recorded as a “simple assault” but no charges were filed.

Vehicle ransacked, nothing taken

On Nov. 5 at approximately 5 p.m., the passenger side window of a 2008 Nissan parked on Boulevard East and Fulton Street was broken. According to police, the inside of the vehicle had been ransacked, but nothing was taken.
