To the Editor:
It is unclear how many accounting, engineering and technical support jobs have moved off shore in recent years, but if you were to go to the website “Exporting America,” the number of confirmed companies doing so is staggering. It’s approximately 40 percent of the companies we do business with each day.
I am sure those 33 trapped miners in Chile are thankful that NASA’s engineer, Clinton Cragg, was here in America and able to help them with a capsule that he and his supporting staff of 20 designed for their rescue operation.
The majority of Fortune 1000 firms, that is to say 60 percent, have yet to embrace outsourcing. Shouldn’t that say something about those companies and why we should support them? Isn’t this contrary to what we hear so much about, namely that we can’t compete unless we outsource?
