HUDSON COUNTY – Through an $11.5 million grant spread over five years, teachers in New Jersey are enhancing their own education.
The program, called the Partnership to Improve Student Achievement in Physical Science, or PISA 2, is funded by the National Science Foundation. Teachers in Bayonne, West New York, Jersey City, and Hoboken are among those receiving aid from the Washington legislation. The purpose of the program is to educate 400 3rd through 5th grade teachers leading to a 15-credit graduate certificate program in science and related professional development to strengthen their knowledge in physical and earth sciences.
On Monday, Oct. 4, students from across the state joined Rep. Albio Sires (D – NJ13), teachers, and administrators in the Babbio Center at Stevens Institute of Technology to showcase science projects they’ve worked on thus far this year.
