To the Editor:
On page six of “The Jersey Journal” of Sept. 21, Mayor Mark Smith announced a crack down on speeding on side streets. Has anyone checked Avenue C and the Boulevard lately? Thirty-five to forty miles per hour seems to be the norm.
Just last week, I had a New York driver pull from a parking space mid-block on Broadway to make a “U” turn to pick up a passenger on the other side of the street.
Today as I was coming down Avenue E, I saw three police cars parked with lights flashing for a contractor working for PSE&G.
I think the city would be better served if two of these cars were patrolling the city to crack down on speeders and traffic in other parts of the city.
