UNION CITY — Feisal Abdul Rauf, the Union City landlord and Muslim imam at the center of the ground zero cultural center and mosque debate, has been ordered to reimburse Union City for the cost of having a police officer stationed outside of one of his buildings for a nearly 10-day “fire watch” while the fire alarm was being fixed, according to a report on NJ.com.
According to published reports, Rauf has until Oct. 9 to fix the violations in his building and the rent from Rauf’s building for the month of October must be held in escrow until the case returns to court on Oct. 19.
Earlier this month, Union City officials announced they were suing Rauf for not addressing tenant complaints which have been on record since 1996.
