Hartz to donate $10K for dog park

SECAUCUS – Dog tails in town are wagging at news that the town will build a new dog walk at the end of Millridge Road.
Hartz Mountain, which is headquartered in Secaucus, has agreed to help underwrite some of the costs associated with the project.
The fenced park will include tables, benches, play structures, drinking fountains, and waste stations. Perhaps most important, the park will have a grassy field, unlike the dog park at the Secaucus Animal Shelter, which many dog owners have complained is a muddy mess after rainstorms.
Hartz will donate $10,000 to the project, according to town officials.
In a release from the office of Mayor Michael Gonnelli, Hartz Senior VP of Marketing and Sales Bob Shipley said, “Hartz is happy to donate toward this local dog park. We believe it will offer a safe, fun environment where dogs and their pet parents can thrive, play, and socialize.”
The dog walk, which will be named Hartz Dog Park, should be completed within about eight weeks.
