Dear Editor:
Hoboken Police Chief Anthony Falco and Lieutenant Ken Ferrante would like to thank the many who were responsible for making the 2010 Hoboken Police Department’s Community Policing’s National Night Out possible.
On Monday, Aug. 3, our department held its annual National Night Out Against Crime and Drugs on 3rd and Harrison Street. Over 1200 residents of all ages and from all parts of town joined the police department for a festive night, which focused on bringing the police and community together. The event was coordinated by Sgt. James Marnell, P.O. James Barbro and P.O. William Oquendo. They brought a great line-up of activities, demonstrations, and dining, which kept everyone enjoying the entire night.
The night would not have been possible without the many contributors and participants. Chief Falco and Lt. Ferrante would like to thank the following contributors: Inserra Shop-Rite for their donation of the food, water and supplies which helped satisfy everyone’s appetites; Carlos Bakery, home of the ‘Cake Boss,’ for the donation of three cakes; All-in-One Entertainment for doing a masterful job of supplying the rides, pop corn machine, and sno-cones; the U.S. Army National Guard for their time in coming and providing a Rock Wall for children to climb; the Hoboken Fire Department for their Jaws of Life presentation under the direction of Capt. Angel Amaro and for their fire prevention station coordinated by Inspector Andrew Frey; Mile Square Towing and Ronnie Miller for the donation of a car for the Jaws of Life Presentation; the Hoboken Volunteer Ambulance Corps and Tom Molta for their CPR and first-aid demonstrations that had a crowd of children around it all night; New Jersey Transit Police; New Jersey State Police Sgt. Julian Castellanos; the Port Authority Police Department; the Hoboken Housing Authority, especially Executive Director Carmelo Garcia and two members of his staff; Oscar Mercado and Sammy Fermaint, who were tireless in all of their work and cooking throughout the day; Mrs. Patricia Waiters; ADT alarm company; and all of the members of the Hoboken Police Department and the Community Policing Bureau, especially the event coordinators; and a special thank you to every resident who attended the evening’s celebration.
Chief Anthony P. Falco Sr.
Lieutenant Ken Ferrante
