Funeral services were held Aug. 14 at the Lutheran Church of the Reformation, West Long Branch, for Bertha Elizabeth Ross Behrens, 102. She passed away Aug. 10 at her home at Renaissance Gardens, Tinton Falls. Bertha was born in Jersey City. She was a graduate of William L. Dickinson High School, class of 1926, and earned a teacher’s certificate from Jersey City Normal School, 1928. After teaching in Cliffside Park for three years, she taught eighth grade and the art and music programs at P.S. 24 for many years before retiring in 1969. She was predeceased by her parents, Jesse and Anna Ross, and her sister, Alyce Yvonne Ross Olsson. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Edna Behrens Platz; her niece, Lois Platz Kopf and her husband Rodger; her niece Joanne M. Platz and her husband Wm. Gregory Parmele; her nephew Charles A. Platz; her niece Dorothy Van Kirk; and many grandnieces and grandnephews. Services arranged by the Woolley Funeral Home, Long Branch.
