Hoboken woman robbed of purse by man who came from black SUV

HOBOKEN — Police responded around 10:45 p.m. last Thursday night to a woman who had just eaten dinner at a 14th Street restaurant and said that she had been robbed. The woman said that after she had dinner at the restaurant, she started walking south on Garden Street. She said that around 12th Street, a black SUV stopped suddenly and the driver waved her across 12th Street.
When the woman was near 10th and Garden streets, a man with short buzzed hair latched on to her Coach bag, she told police. A struggle ensued and the man threw her to the ground. The woman let go of the purse and the man ran up Bloomfield Street.
A Madison Street man heard the woman screaming and saw the man running. He gave chase, but the man jumped onto the black SUV, which was now double parked at Eleventh and Bloomfield streets. The Madison Street man was able to get some of the license plate number.
The car sped off. The woman was treated for cuts. Police are investigating. Anyone with information can call the Detective Bureau at 201-420-2110 or 2100.
