Dear Editor:
On Sunday, June 6, 2010, our family suffered a tragic loss.
Our 29-year-old cousin Marc Castellano, a New Jersey State Trooper, was killed in the line of duty. Marc leaves behind a wife, 2 toddlers and an extended grieving family.
We thank our Hoboken Community for their outpouring of sympathy and prayers. When tragedy strikes a family Hoboken comes together.
We thank the New Jersey State Troopers for their diligence and guidance thru this difficult time. Our Hoboken Police Department, under the supervision of
Chief Anthony Falco was represented by many of our “Brothers in Blue”, too many to mention by name, and members of the O.E.M. Team. Detective Mark Aurigemma and others who gave up their furlough days to serve the 5000 visitors manned the donated food wagon. Contingents representing some 15-20 States as far reaching as California came to honor Marc.
We thank all the people, children and store owners who lined up on Rt.9, waving flags, holding signs and saluting as the motorcade passed.
Yes, we are a family in mourning, but having shared our grief with so many caring people gave us somewhat of a comforting peace.
On behalf of the Castellano Family I wish to convey our appreciation for your acknowledgement of our loss and for honoring Marc’s ultimate sacrifice.
Warm Regards,
Theresa, Robert, John & Jesse Castellano
