A funeral mass was offered June 14 at Holy Family R.C. Church, Union City, for Faustino Rafael Diaz, 71. He passed away June 11. He was born in Esperanza, Las Villas, Cuba. He fled Cuba due to political persecution in April of 1961 and settled in West New York. He married his childhood sweetheart, Nilda Perez by proxy on August 4, 1962. Faustino is survived by his wife; daughters Elizabeth and her husband Sal Raspa, Jacqueline and her husband George Alvarez; and also by his mother Eulalia M. Sanchez and his sister Marta Trujillo. He was the grandfather of six grandchildren, Maria, Anthony, Stephanie and Christina Raspa and Isabella and Joseph Alvarez and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was dedicated to his church, community and garden. Services arranged by the Morgado Funeral Home, Union City.
