A funeral service took place June 14 for Yu Wong Chiong, 75. He passed away June 8. Born in Canton, China, Yu immigrated to Cuba in 1953 then came to the United States in 1970. Settling in North Bergen, he opened a grocery-deli called the Dragon Grocery in North Bergen. Over the next 37 years, he became a friend to his customers and a fixture in the neighborhood, knowing nearly the whole neighborhood until he retired from the store in 2009. He was the husband of Marta (Cuan); father of Hector Chiong and Lesmes Chiong Gonzalez; grandfather of Daniel and Alexandra Gonzalez; brother of Chak Men Huang, Lai Hao Huang and Yue Qiong Huang.
