HOBOKEN AND BEYOND — Carlo’s City Hall Bake Shop is celebrating their 100th year in operation in Hoboken with a series of events. The city released a press release invitingresidents and visitors to join in the celebration. They said, “Visitors are strongly encouraged to arrive via public transportation” (or Hertz car-share?)
The schedule:
On Friday, June 18, TLC & Carlo’s Bakery will be distributing more than 1,000 free “commuter cupcakes” at the PATH station from 5 to 7 p.m.
On Saturday, June 19, Carlo’s will hold a family-focused block party on the street in front of the bakery featuring dessert decoration stations, a dunk tank – with a chance to dunk Barolo “Buddy” Valastro – and the installation of the “Carlo’s Bakery Way” street sign at the corner of Newark and Washington Streets.
The following streets will be closed at 8 a.m. on June 19 and are scheduled to open at 4 p.m.:
• Washington Street between Observer Highway and First Street
• Newark Street between Hudson Street and Bloomfield Street
• Court Street between First Street and Newark Street
Portable toilets will be available in front of the CVS near the corner of Washington and Newark.
Visitors are strongly encouraged to take public transportation including the PATH, Hudson-Bergen Light Rail, NJ Transit commuter rail, or bus.
