WEST NEW YORK – Alliance for a Healthier Generation, founded by the American Heart Association and the William J. Clinton Foundation, announced Tuesday that they are recognizing 179 schools across the nation for making their campuses healthier for students and staff.
Among them is Memorial High School in West New York. Memorial High School is the first and only school to earn a Gold National Recognition Award from the Healthy Schools Program.
The school was recognized for the sweeping changes made to its cafeteria; increased physical activity for students and staff before, during and after the school day; and requiring that every student take health and physical education annually.
