Funeral mass took place June 9 at St. Augustine Church for Aristides Jose Pina, 84. He passed away June 4. He was born in Pinar Del Rios, Cuba and lived in Union City since 1974. Aristides was a longshoreman in Cuba for 20 years and then retired as a maintenance worker for the State of N.Y. after 25 years. He was a strong opponent of the Castro regime in Cuba which cost him two years in the labor camps in Cuba from 1966 to 1968. Aristides was the husband of Herlinda Valhuerdi Pina and father of Aristides Juan Pina. Services arranged by Leber Funeral Home, Union City.
