On April 22, 2010, the Hudson County Jaycees held a “Night Out” at Room 84 in Hoboken, NJ where top young business leaders and politicos enjoyed discussion of the bright future and goals of the organization along with enjoying local-themed food and entertainment.
Headlining were Assemblyman Ruben J. Ramos, Freeholder Anthony Romano, Orange Mayor and Jaycee State Chapter President Eldridge Hawkins Jr., and Jersey City Councilman Steven Fulop. “The amount of great civic work the Jaycees have already done and will continue to do is definitely worth celebrating,” said Councilman Fulop.
But it was not only carousing in Hoboken that evening, said Hudson County Jaycee President, Zach Edelman, “These next-generation leaders and business people are really looking for the opportunity to serve their community and we’re thrilled to come together and help them do that. We had people from Hoboken, Jersey City, Bayonne, Kearny and Union City. We were thrilled with the turnout” The Hudson County Jaycees formed their chapter in late 2009 and have held a successful Toys For Tots drive and a well-attended Benefit for Haiti, sending food, clothing and money to the country.
There were passed hors d’oeuvres plus other delectable food catered by “The Kitchen”; local entertainer, Eric DeLauro the “Sinatra Idol”, sang many of the hits of Hoboken’s own, Frank Sinatra, to round out the entertainment for the evening.
Ryan Graham, NJ Jaycees State Director, summed up the night, “It’s really fantastic to see the progress this young chapter had made in such a short time. Tonight’s success should serve as a reminder of what’s to come.”
