A mass of Christian burial was held June 10 at St. James R.C. Church for Loretta Donnelly Butler, 86. She passed away at Bayside Manor in Keansburg on June 6. She was born in Jersey City to John and Loretta Donnelly and lived most of her life there, eventually moving to Bayonne and Red Bank. Loretta married John “Jack” Butler on August 16, 1944. Loretta was a warm and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who adored her family. She was a devout Catholic, who dedicated many years to the St. Aloysius R.C. Church Rosary Altar Society in Jersey City. She was a wonderful cook, who loved to entertain her family and friends. Called Babe by her sister, and Leigh by all her friends, she was always upbeat with a wonderful Irish sense of humor. Her love of fashion and decorating were known by all who knew her. Loretta was predeceased by her parents, John and Loretta Donnelly; her sister, Muriel Regan; and her husband, John “Jack” Butler. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Hill and her husband William of Little Silver; her son Robert Butler, Red Bank; her grandchildren, Brian Hill, Hoboken, Caitlin Hill, New York City, and Christopher Hill, Little Silver. Loretta lived her last years at Bayside Manor Assisted Living, Keansburg. Her family would like to express their deepest thanks and appreciation to the Cappadona family and the staff, for the wonderful care and kindness extended to Loretta over the years.
