UNION CITY AND BEYOND — Three buildings on fire in Union City on Tuesday afternoon sent up smoke that could be seen in neighboring towns.
Fire companies from Jersey City aided the North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue squad in battling the five-alarm blaze, which started after 4 p.m. on the 1900 block of Palisade Avenue.
The smoke was lessening around 5 p.m. as various companies were able to bring the blaze under control.
One published report said that one of the buildings is a house belonging to a Union City commissioner.
