‘Two Chicks and a Cellist’ with Pamela Ross perform May 23 at Hudson School

Pianist Pamela Ross and the Voxare String Quartet will play piano quintets of Brahms and Schumann on Sunday May 23, at 3 and 5 p.m. at The Hudson School, 601 Park Ave., in Hoboken.
Pamela Ross, an award winning pianist/actress/writer/recording artist, has been a Hoboken resident since shortly after 9/11. Her critically acclaimed one woman shows have had long runs Off Broadway and in theatres and concert halls worldwide. New York City-based Voxare String Quartet was formed in 2008, and has since received critical acclaim for its inventive programming, technical prowess, attention to detail, and passionate performances.
Praised as being one of the most brilliant and versatile quartets of its generation, “the Voxare Quartet is half-Russian, half-Chicagoan, 100 percent Juilliardian and 400 percent young, enthusiastic, blessed with individual great instrumental skills” (Concertonet). The New York Times recently declared that Voxare “played with precision and passion,” and has twice chosen Voxare as its Classical Pick of the Week.
Voxare is not afraid to break down the boundaries of classical music. They have made and performed their own transcriptions of popular and rock music and often perform in alternative concert venues. Emily Ondracek (violin) performs throughout the United States and Europe, and at festivals such as Aspen, Italy’s Festival de Due Mondi, and the Cleveland Orchestra’s Blossom Summer Music festival. In New York, Ms. Ondracek frequently gives recitals, and has also performed with jazz artists such as Herbie Hancock and Wynton Marsalis.
Galina Zhdanova (violin) was born in Russia, and is at home in the worlds of classical, contemporary and popular music. Her performances have taken her from Bargemusic and Carnegie Hall to Madison Square Garden, Boardwalk Theater in Atlantic City, IZOD Arena and TV appearances on Good Morning America, The View and Rachel Ray’s Shows.
Erik Peterson (viola) has performed with the Cleveland Orchestra, and the Milwaukee and New World Symphonies. He has participated in the music festivals of Sarasota, Blossom, Aspen, and Grant Park, as well as the Spoleto Festival dei Due Mondi in Italy. As a chamber musician, Mr. Peterson has collaborated with members of the Juilliard, Brentano, and Cleveland Quartets, and also members of the Chicago Symphony, Cleveland Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic, leading him to perform in Carnegie, Alice Tully, and Avery Fisher Halls.
Adrian Daurov (cello) was appointed in 2007 as the principal cellist of The Chamber Orchestra of New York. Adrian has appeared as a soloist and chamber musician on the main concert stages of St. Petersburg, Moscow, as well as in Europe and the U.S. In 2004, he toured Germany as a soloist with the St. Petersburg Chamber Orchestra and was appointed the Principal Cellist of the Bayreuth Festival Youth Orchestra.
Admission to the May 23 concert is $10, half-price for seniors and students. This concert is part of the “Two Chicks and a ‘Cellist” and guests series, an ensemble in residence at The Hudson School.
