Dear Editor:
I thank the Hoboken Police Department and the Soccer Learning Center for organizing the Lt. Alan Beck Memorial Soccer Tournament on Sunday, April 18th. The Hoboken Police Department was a great support to Alan in life and continues to keep his memory and legacy alive by coordinating this community event in his honor.
I thank our Mayor, the Honorable Dawn Zimmer, Councilman Nino Giacchi, Police Chief Anthony Falco, Police Officer Vito Gigante, Sgt. Melissa Gigante, our DJ Santo, our raffle hostess Kelly, our chef Eddie Rivera, Mr. John Bincoletta, the community members, my family and friends, and the many loyal fellow officers who always stood by his side. I extend special gratitude to the Hoboken Soccer League team members who made this day possible. In addition to the Hoboken Police Department, many teams representing the local law enforcement participated including the Hudson County Sheriff’s Department, the Port Authority Police Department, the Hudson County Corrections Center, the Jersey City Police Department, and the Jersey City Fire Department.
Through their effort, three families of the Hoboken Police Department who face a battle with cancer, will receive support and benefit from this event.
The outpouring of love and concern shown to me throughout the years from the Hoboken Police Department is genuinely appreciated. It is my hope to see you next year at the Second Annual Lt. Alan Beck Memorial Soccer Tournament. As the skies brightened that Sunday morning, we could sense Alan’s spiritual presence.
Gail Beck
