Animal shelter fund

Dear Editor:
A big thank you to all those involved in the Secaucus Animal Shelter promotional and fundraising event at the April 24 Earth Day Celebration at Liberty State Park in Jersey City. Event Organizers were Marlene Prieto and Susan Pirro. Animal Adoption Coordinator was Connie O’Connell. Secaucus Animal Control Officers, Ed McClure and Dennis Earle assisted in setup and operation of the event. Also in attendance were Marlene’s daughter Amanda and her husband Assemblyman Vincent Prieto, Mayor Mike Gonnelli and his dog Charlie, Bruce Levine and Larry Dicken with their dog Yankee.
This was a super event to promote the Secaucus Animal Shelter. A lot of preparation and hard work was performed by Marlene and her daughter, Sue and Connie to make an outstanding promotional event for our animal shelter happen. We had two adoption applications filed with deposits and four others taken with interest in adopting. We collected $169 in $1 donations for the Animal Shelter Fund. Marlene provided a beautiful background banner for the exhibit tables and great new t-shirts for the committee members. A computer based slide show, produced by Marlene and her daughter, proved to be a big help in showing our adoptable animals. The dogs, Yankee and Charlie, were big draws for the children near the exhibit tables.
