Dear Editor:
Where is Jersey’s World War II Veteran’s Monument? Some notable Jersey City residents were killed in World War II: Al Blois, former New York Giant football player (killed in the Alps); Capt. Aubrey Kemper, youngest graduate of Columbia University at age 16 (killed crossing the Rhine); my neighbor, Walter Ostrowski (killed at The Battle of the Bulge).
As a World War II veteran and lifetime Hudson County Veterans and Foreign Wars Police Post 810 member, I am writing on behalf of all our World War II troops including hundreds from Jersey City who defended our freedom and never made it home. “The Greatest Casualty of war is being forgotten”.
Shame on me for not bringing this cause to the forefront on behalf of my fallen brothers during my 92 year lifetime.
Citizens of Jersey City, please help me find the missing World War II Monument that was never built to honor “The veterans of our greatest generation”.
Please pray daily for all of our troops currently defending our freedom worldwide.
Al Rinn
Grateful Survivor
