EMMETT BROWN, EDWARD

A funeral service took place April 29 at Monumental Baptist Church, Jersey City, for Emmett Edward Brown. He passed away at home, surrounded by his daughter Betty and son-in-law Rudolph, on April 22. He was born to Joseph and Essie Brown in Americas, Ga. Affectionately known as “Brown,” he was raised with his sisters in Tampa, Fla. He married Jessie Gant and the couple was blessed with five children: James, Betty, Anthony, Larry, and Anita. Emmett served in the U.S. Navy as Steward’s Mate First Class. After military service, he married his love Margaret Darnell and became the “Daddy” of her daughter, Michele Jefferey. Emmett was a diligent employee of RCA in Bayonne for 20 years, and Stevens Institute in Hoboken for over 30 years. He then worked at City Hall meticulously waxing the floors, where many remarked that he was a perfectionist! Emmett was a member of Monumental Baptist Church, where he was honored as a Church Father, and a member of CICA Social Club. He was predeceased by his wife and parents and granddaughter Levon. Surviving to cherish Emmett’s memory are his children James, Betty (Rudolph), Anthony, Larry (Linda), Anita and Michele; sisters Teresa, Evelyn and Daisy; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; a companion Ruth and her daughter Monica. Services arranged by the Jackson Funeral Residence, Jersey City.
